John Nieman

About John Nieman

John Nieman has worked in the creative arena for the past thirty years, and has enjoyed the opportunity to excel in many forms of artistic endeavor.

He enjoyed a successful career in the advertising business, most recently as Chief Creative Officer of D’Arcy Worldwide.  In this capacity, he directed and oversaw the creative output of more than 100 offices.

Five years ago, he devoted himself to the visual arts.  He studied with Julie Lester in New York, and quickly moved on to a prolific output of still studies.  His work is characterized by striking composition, crisp colors, and strong shadows.  He has a photo realistic sensibility and favors pastels and watercolors. Given his background in the communication world, he particularly enjoys creating work that tells a visual story.

Mr, Nieman has been exhibited in sixteen different venues over the past two years. His work has been featured in national and international juried competitions. In the spring, a collection of his paintings and poems was published in a book called Art of Lists. He is currently represented by Agora Gallery in New York City.

He resides in Dobbs Ferry, New York, with his five children.
